Chad Survivor Crittenden

Welcome!

Thanks for visiting my remodeled 2012 website! This site has been newly refurbished and not only covers what I've been doing since being on CBS' Survivor but all kinds of other stuff as well including a blog which will debut in the Spring.

My latest endeavor will once again take me abroad - this time to Africa! I am embarking on an expedition to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa this August as part of the CAFrica group. I'm raising money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) which is a wonderful organization, and one which I've supported for years. I would like to thank a Major Sponsor to the CAFrica expedition: Knit-Rite. A significant donation has been given to the CAF by Knit-Rite, and the logo at the top of this page provides a link to their website; many thanks to my very generous sponsor! To donate to the cause, please click here: Chad's CAFrica Fundraising Page.

Along with showcasing a few of the things I've been up to in the last few years, my wish is that amputees visit and be encouraged in some way, much like I was early on as a new amputee reaching for inspiration. I found much of that inspiration through stories of others on the internet. If you happen to be a member of the elite group of us who have a fake leg or other limb, check out Amputee Resource Depot. This tab has information about my strategies as an amputee, and please peruse the Links tab to delve further.

Please scroll all the way down to the bottom of this page to see all that we have featured here including a documentary featuring myself in a segment about the incredible amputee support group Stumps-R-Us!

If you're looking for straight Survivor stuff - that is here too, as well as what I've been doing as a speaker, author and athlete. If you have any questions ranging from specifics about prosthetic components to what events are coming up, feel free to drop me an email. I look forward to hearing from you!

Each year approximately 185,000 people in the United States undergo amputation because of disease or injury. Between 2001 and the end of 2007, an additional 1000 service men and women have lost limbs in training or in combat in Afghanistan, Iraq, or other areas of conflict.

Many amputees find help and encouragement from loved ones and from support groups, including one with a refreshingly irreverent approach to helping its members. Begun in 1988 by founder and so-called "Chief Stump" Dan Sorkin, the group's main requirement for membership is a sense of humor.
